To LAVP Members and Supporters:

Los Altos Voices for Peace has agreed to be an honorary co-sponsor of the Gay Straight Alliance parade in downtown Los Altos on Sunday, June 4. As an LAVP member or supporter, your participation in the parade is encouraged. As one of our members put it, you can‘t have peace without tolerance.

The GSA Parade is expected to be a joyous community celebration honoring the Los Altos High School Gay Straight Alliance and the LGBT community within the greater Los Altos-Los Altos Hills neighborhood..

We need to have you show up, sign in at the check in desk and be in
your assigned spots in the parking lot assembly area by 11:30. This in the parking area behind Maltby’s restaurant.

Look for the LAVP banner.

Here are more details as provided by King Lear, parade organizer:

The timing of the event will be to start the parade at 12:00 sharp.
The parade route is only 15 minutes long walking very slowly. The
entire parade period could be as short as a half hour. The end of
the parade will have a banner urging the spectators to join in and
walk with us around to the plaza as a way to collect the audience for
the rally. The rally will begin when most have assembled in the
area. This should be on or before 1:00. The closing rally will have
a few speeches by students and invited guest speakers and will take
about one half hour. At the completion of the rally, the crowd will
disperse and the clean-up volunteers will cover the area picking up
any trash that may have accumulated.
