To LAVP Members and Supporters,
The request we made for handwritten letters expressing
your views on the Iraq war has yielded impressive and
heart-warming results. Thanks to those of you who
have mailed us your letters. Just as you have
hand-written them, they will be hand-delivered.
But we need more.
Please put your handwritten letters in the mail to us
by Tuesday the 23rd, so they reach us no later than
Thursday. I leave for the major demonstration and
rally on Friday the 26th. The rally is Saturday and
the Congressional meetings are on Monday the 29th.
As a reminder , the original email about this project
is repeated below.
Help our community send a strong message of peace in
these dark times.
Ray
TO LAVP MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS
Please pick up a pen or pencil and HAND-WRITE a letter
to Anna Eshoo, Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.
With your own pen and in your own words, tell these
elected representatives what you think about the
escalation of the war in Iraq and what we should do to
bring our troops home. We will hand deliver your
letter to these officials on January 29 in their
Washington, D.C., offices. Our letters will be
combined with those from Mountain View Voices for
Peace.
As you are no doubt aware, a major Iraq war protest is
set for Washington, D.C., on Saturday, January 27.
Sponsored by United for Peace and Justice, one of the
goals of the event is to have every congressional
district in the U.S. represented. We of Los Altos
Voices for Peace and Mountain View Voices for Peace
will be doing our part to represent you.
Its probably best to limit your letter to one page,
addressing all three of the above officials. Well
make copies for distribution. Remember to add your
name, address, and either a phone number or email
address (or both).
Because of time constraints, please send your letter
by regular mail, to us, Ray and Judy Schuster, at 233
Valley Street, Los Altos CA 94022. Your letters
should reach us no later than Thursday, Jan. 25.
(BTW, this effort is in addition to the online bring
them home petition being coordinated by PPJC. Check
that out, as well.)
This could be a turning point, if ever there will be
one.
In peace,
Ray and Judy
